Symposium Review
On Friday, April 30th of this year, the National Parkinson’s Foundation, Orange County Chapter held the 17th Annual Parkinson’s Wellness Symposium at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach.  Approximately 320 guests gathered to hear presentations on issues pertinent to Parkinson’s patients, families and professionals. This annual event features specialists in the field of Parkinson’s disease to share the newest and most current information on treatment, wellness therapies and family dynamics.

This year’s presenters were:   Monique Giroux, MD, Medical Director of the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation, Paul Selecky, MD, Medical Director, Hoag Sleep Disorders Center and Susan Imke, RN, gerontological nurse practitioner, Texas Health Care, LLC.

With an emphasis on Wellness, this years guest speakers addressed issues such as; how to  integrate a wellness philosophy  and find balance while living with Parkinson’s disease; information on identifying and managing sleep disorders that may affect your life as well as your partners; useful tips for families living with a chronic illness.

Many community agencies and partnering organizations came out to show their support of this program and enthusiastically participated in the overall activities of the day.

Thank you to all the volunteers and supporters who helped make this yet another successful and much appreciated event..
