About Monique Giroux, M.D.
Monique Giroux is the medical director of the Booth Gardner Parkinson’s Care at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center in Kirkland, Washington. In this role, she has developed and coordinated comprehensive care, to include rehabilitation and wellness based therapies for people with Parkinson’s and related disorders. Prior to this she was Outpatient Medical Director of Movement disorders at the Cleveland Clinic with a focus on DBS care for people with Parkinson’s disease.
Dr. Giroux’s accomplishments and community service reinforce her commitment to quality care, healing and wellness for people with chronic illness. She is medical director of the National Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence in Kirkland, WA and has recently been appointed to lead a nationwide initiative with this organization, The NPF Parkinson’s Care Consortium, designed to bring together national experts in the spirit of collaboration and innovation to meet the care needs of our community. She is a national speaker on issues related to comprehensive care, quality of life, and chronic disease management and serves as medical faculty for the National Parkinson’s Foundation Allied Team Training Program for Parkinson’s a 6 year effort that has trained professionals throughout the nation.
Dr. Giroux’s recent endeavor includes the development of a unique website, the Virtual Wellness Center prompted by the needs and expressed concerns of patients with a focus on health, hope and healing. You can join this program at www.nwpf.org/wellness/ .
Her focus of care and research is on the development of interdisciplinary rehabilitation, mind-body medicine and wellness for Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Giroux is exploring new ways to bring the science and art of healing to medicine; she has completed a training program for medical professionals in therapeutic yoga and is studying holistic medicine as a clinical fellow in Dr. Andrew Weil’s Integrated Medicine Program at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Giroux completed Neurology residency at Yale followed by a two-year fellowship in Movement Disorders at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She is board certified in Neurology.
